Robert Englund stars as nightmare serial killer Freddie Krueger in Wes Craven's 1984 horror movie in which Nancy and the other Elm Street teens (including a young Johnny Depp!) are haunted in their dreams by the badly burnt psychopath with the razor glove.

This was the 1st horror film I saw and it sticks in my memory as the best ever. I watched it at a birthday sleep over and was scared stiff, even more so when my friend's dad hid in the wardrobe dressed as Freddie and waited for us to go to bed before he jumped out! One, two, Freddie's coming for you, three, four, better lock your door...

    I was seventeen when I saw it in the cinema, I was a bit cocky thinking i'm not the eight year old who wouldn't go swimming after seeing jaws, and it terrified me. there's something about being that age , your wide open to things. never been as freaked since, david lynch's mulholland drive the nearest thing perhaps
