Alpine Soft Drinks

The Alpine Soft Drinks man used to come round in a sort of converted milk float every week (Wednesday or Thursday), and sell these street by street back in the mid seventies. Alpine Soft Drinks were closer to Corona than Cresta, but they came in the most vivid colours and left you hyper all evening. Alpine Soft Drinks came in the usual flavours - Orangeade, Limeade, Lemonade, Cola, Cherryade and of course Dandelion and Burdock. As someone who worked for them for a short time I can remember one of the top sellers was American Cream Soda.

I remember Dave Hallam the canvassing team leader back in 1986. Drove a purple MGB. There was also a legendary salesman Malc who could sell snow to eskimos, never failed to make a sale. He started off the sales patter in Urdu in some areas of Nottingham and Derby.

I recognise so many of the names and it's great most people have fond memories of their time there. I'd wondered if I'd come across any I actually knew. I'm looking fwd to reading more from everyone.

I remember the Alpine truck coming to my street in Kilmarnock in the 80s when I was a wee kid. Interestingly enough I see that in Ayrshire now a guy who said he used to work for Alpine has his own wee business delivering juice door to door from a van. The juice they sell is from Dunns Food and Drink (they bought out Curries and make Red Kola), and other stuff like Pineappleade, Lemonade, American Cola and other drinks. All in glass bottles too that you hand back, just like the old days. Pic of the juice selection - http://goo.gl/Bw7Lfq

Blimey, I thought I was the only one who remembered this. The Alpine van would come once a week and my parents would get different flavours. Then they disappeared, I thought I was dreaming.
