Bee Top Sauce

This is an oft mentioned sauce - particularly in the midlands of the UK. It graced many a dinner table in the 1980's but these days is rarely found.

Some say it is "Simply the best brown sauce ever to have graced our breakfast or dinner table"

Is it still made? There are rumours on the internet that it is stocked by Morrisons, but it does not seem to be made any more. HAve you seen it lately?

I remember Bee Top Sauce. It was always on the table in the 1950's in my grandparents house in Middlemore Road, Smethwick (West Midlands). It was a lovely brown sauce and we kids in the area would think we were doing well to get a 'sauce piece' to eat in the street while we played; these pieces (sandwiches) were ofter made up with two thick bread crusts or thickly cut slices of bread ('doorsteps'). I've seen an illustration of the bottle on the internet but it is not the one I remember. I think the one I remember had a more colourful label and bee, possibly with a pointed bee-hive somewhere in the desighn but I could be mistaken.

In the 1950's the bottle showed a bee on top of a spinning top.Later this was changed to a letter B on the top. You can still buy this sauce if you look around, but it is scarce. I get mine from Wednesfield.
