Bing Drink

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Bing was a Tizer-esque drink made by Silver Spring. Like its fellow Silver Spring drink, Cocopina, it was bright in colour, this time orangey red, and was often sold at sports days across Kent.

At aged 4 or 5 in the 1950’s we used to buy bing at the back door of the pub in Chilham ,Kent when we lived with our grandma. We loved It with a bag of Smiths’s crisps with the blue bag of salt!

Tesco's in Kent sell Bing and Cocopina, the Bing flavour always reminds me of bubble gum. Almost everyone at my school in the mid 80's bought Silver Spring, or reused the bottle to decant squash in :-)

I loved bing. Living near the silver spring factory we used to often go up to there and buy the cheap bottles with no labels, about 10 2L bottles for £1.50, bargain!!!

I remember drinking Bing and Cocapina, along with the not so nice lemonade, coke and orangeade that Silver Spring produced. These drinks were some of the first (I think) to come in plastic 2 litre bottles so were quite a novelty after the usual '10p return' glass ones. Bing was shocking orange in colour and no doubt full of E number goodness, but I loved it, though it fell more on the Irn Bru side than the Tizer side for me.
