For the yuppie who didn't fancy a Porsche or a Mercedes the car of choice was the BMW 325i. The MTech sport and convertibles were the cars of choice for the boys in red braces. A few went further still and bought the super exotic M3 and Alpina models - real collectors pieces today. In standard form the 325i's straight six put out nearly 180 BHP and 0-60 was under 9 seconds, most family saloons took nearer 20 seconds on the 0-60 back in the mid-eighties. Their power made them a target for boy racers in the 90's, but today prices are on the rise for good cars and the E21 and E30 3 series cars have a huge following. My car today? A 1988 325i convertible. 26 years old and still going strong. My son calls it the time machine! It's even got it's original tape player. If you want to release your inner yuppie buy one now, it drives like a modern car, built to last, easily repairable and looks achingly cool.
