Bravestarr

Basically, it was about a Cowboy/Sherrif mixed in with a lot of Indian folklaw. It's kind of hard to describe, and the only thing that people usually remember about it is the bit when Bravestarr shouted "Strength of a Bear, Speed of a Puma!" before powering up.

The idea behind it was solely to cash in and make a bigger hit than He-Man - their last venture. Unfortunately, Bravestarr was nowhere near as big, as Mattel couldn't produce the action figures in time to coincide with the programme airing. With He-Man, the toys were out way before the cartoon aired, so everyone knew the characters already and everyone was pleased, but Bravestarr was toon first, then the toys came out months and months after.

Shame really, coz it was pretty cool.

Bravestarr was a cartoon set in the future where a boy is aboard a spacecraft that flys through the constellations of a bear, a hawk, and a few other things. "SPEED OF THE PUMA, STRENGTH OF THE BEAR, EYES OF THE HAWK!"Anyway, skip ahead to when he is an adult and is a sheriff in a Wild West setting but with futuristic machanical things like metal horses that are actually hover bikes, and other stuff like that. Does this ring a bell with you? It's a late eighties thing. VERY COOL CARTOON. I've still got the VHS movie which started it all off. Anyhow, BRAVESTAR. Lol.
