Cat Stevens

Coming out of the 60s with such hits as "Matthew and Son" and "I'm Gonna Get Me a Gun" this singer/songwriter turned introspective and started to produce some of the finest songs of the early/mid 70s. Every song I've heard by Cat Stevens has a haunting melody and deeply deep words. I recommend you listen to "Mona Bone Jakon" and "Tea For the Tillerman", two sublime albums.

Oh and if you're into strange films, you should check out "Harold and Maude"; an off-beat comedy that features Cat Stevens music to really good effect.

After a lengthy quiet spell, it is good to know that Cat Stevens is still making and producing music under the name of Yusef Islam, and trust me, his music is as moving as it ever was!

have one of his LP's somewhere (back from the 1970's). Can always remember him singing -"Moonshadow" and "Morning Has Broken". Loved Matthew and Son, but for some reason think this might have been on the 'B' side of one of his singles. Haven't listened to any of his recent music, but unlike many songs of the 1970's if you heard any of the old Cat Stevens songs on the radio, they wouldn't sound too cheesey. I loved the 70's and have many good memories, especially the early - mid 70's. Bet all of us growing up then has the odd song from then, if we heard today, would cringe to admit we use to like it!!!
