Awesome smile, and spectacular silver high heels. She is not your typical Barbie doll. Originally released by Kenner in 1977 and discontinued in 1981 Darci came in blonde, brunette or redhead form. When you bought Darci, who was said to be a professional model, she came with a booklet, stand and a white vinyl portfolio featuring three magazine covers with Darci in them.
Darci Doll had two best friends - an African American doll named Dana and an auburn-haired doll called Erica.
What's really worth a mention though, is that the Darci Doll was the precursor for the JEM doll of the 80s, made by Hasbro. In fact, it looks like the same body and face moulds were used for both. Well, once you've achieved perfection!
