De La Soul rocked the hip-hop world in 1989 with their debut album "3 Feet High and Rising" bringing a new sound combining a mixture of jazz, pop and reggae elements that differed from their hard-edged contemporaries.
The group had a string of chart hits such as "Me,Myself and I" and "Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)".
