Esso Blue Advert

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

This was a telly ad sung to the tune of the Platters hit, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. It went something like this...They asked me how I knew It was Esso Blue I of course replied With lower grades one buys Smoke gets in your eyes.

I remember this song. It was a free flexi disc promo that was pushed through our letterbox in the late 1960's. I've been looking for this for years. Thanks.

I remember another Esso Blue advert... Esso, Esso, Esso, blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue Esso blue etc. ... without the score it reads stupid. The first line Esso down a note or two,Esso, up a semitone maybe Esso, the next two lines, the blue blue blue lines are rising tones, the next line with four blues, first three are rising, the last lower. You either know this or you don't, it does not read well.

And, of course, the forum software makes a mess of everything by removing the line breaks. I shall not bother again.

Hi John, Do you still have this? My dad has just passed away and he sold paraffin for as long as we can remember and used to sing this song with him when we were kids.We want to play at Funeral and searched everywhere for a copy but can’t get it anywhere.
