Forest Family were toys that very much resembled the Sylvanian Families and the Maple Town and Calico Critter ranges. I guess they were a copy of these more famous families. I personally didn't even hear about the "Sylvanians" when I was a kid so the Forest Families were the ones in the 80s for me!
Forest Family was slightly different to their competitors in that they were slightly larger and also made of softer materials. They all had smiley faces, too, which went a long way when you were young. Forest Family also consisted of more unusual varieties of animal, including: turtles, elephants and birds. (I, for one, have never seen an elephant in any forest near my house!)
