Geri Halliwell

Born in Watford, Hertfordshire in 1972, Geraldine Estelle Halliwell was a member of the world famous "Spice Girls". Before starting her music career, Geri had worked as a nightclub dancer in Spain, a model and presenter on the Turkish version of Let's Make a Deal and as a glamour model.

She was nicknamed "Ginger Spice" because of her red hair and attitude. She joined the Spice Girls in 1994 and split from the group in May 1998 due to depression and reported differences between the group. In 1999, Geri launched her solo career and released a number of hits which made it into the UK Singles Charts, including 4 no. 1 hits.

On 14 May 2006, Geri gave birth to her daughter, Bluebell Madonna. She is currently working in television.

Shortly after going solo she went to do a gig for British troops who were building up in the Middle East on the eve of the 2003 Iraq War. She insisted on hospitality arrangements that were almost equal to one of Saddam Hussein's luxury palaces- an air-conditioned trailer with satellite TV, internet connection and a hairdressing salon, expensive food, a fully-stocked bar, a jacuzzi bathroom, and a seperate van containing her wardrobe. All of this in contrast to the privations that the soldiers themselves were having to put up with, and none of them knowing whether they were about to die or not. Veteran WW2 singer Vera Lynn had more than a few things to say about that- good on you, Vera!!
