Hi-Ho Cherry-O was a counting game for young children. The idea was to race to be the first player to get 10 cherries in your basket. Mums and dads would use it to coax their kids into having fun with counting. "If you have seven cherries and you lose two, how many are left on the tree?" they'd ask the little one.
Spinning the arrow will determine whether you get to pick up one or two or many more cherries on your go. You could of course, god forbid, land on the bird or the tree marker, meaning you'd have to give up some precious cherries. Worse still, the spilled bucket marker meant you lost all your cherries in one go and had to start all over again!
