I Took A Lickin' From A Chicken was a computerised game from back in the late 70s. It had 3 different modes - Tic-Tac-Toe, Simon, and Addition - but the Tic-Tac-Toe game was the best.
You would compete against this little motorized plastic chicken that was housed under a clear plastic dome. When it was the chicken's turn, it would move from side to side as if scanning the game board to figure out his move, while uttering mechanical clucking noises. Then it would lurch forward with a loud cluck and its selection on the game board would become illuminated.
If the chicken won the game it would caw loudly as if it was laughing at you. At the beginning of each game it would play a horrible midi rendition of "Old McDonald Had A Farm".
I Took a Lickin' From a Chicken was a really noisy game, but really fun. I remember me and my brothers received it as a Christmas gift while visiting my uncles in Chicago. We loved it and we played it non-stop on the 15-hour car ride back to Pittsburgh. By the end of the ride my mom and dad were ready to smash the thing on the pavement.
To this day it has "set the bar" for the annoying toys me and my brothers try to buy for each others' kids. We were cleaning out my parents' attic a few years back and we found the game, and it still works, and it is now annoying a new generation of parents!
