Kunzel Cakes

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

I can remember my parents used to order Kunzel Cakes on a thursday night in Carters in Ebbw Vale. We would have them delivered on a Friday evening. Me and my brother would eat the cakes and then fill the chocolate boats with milk and drink from them all evening - lovely !

A very informative thread. They may have disappeared from the shops in 1979, but they still got a mention and, somehow, an onscreen presence in Bill Forsyth's "Comfort and Joy" in 1984...

We used to have these for sunday tea sometimes. There was 4 in the box. I always had the orange one with the little jelly orange slice on, my brother had the pink one with the red jelly diamond on, my mom and nan had the beige one with the chocolate button on and the lemon one with the jelly lemon slice on. Never been anything to beat them since although i bet they would be quite expensive to buy these days because of the chocolate shells.

My dad was a long distance lorry driver for Kunzels in the 60's, during the school holidays I went to London in the summer and Glasgow in the winter from Monday to Friday, delivering all around both area's. I was an expect on the cakes and also "slightly" overweight for my age..
