Loadsamoney

The comic Tory yuppie character created by Harry Enfield whose catchphrase was "Loadsamoney!". The vulgar character always bragged about his dosh and once appeared on Top of the Pops with a hit single.

Loadsamoney was finally killed off after being run over and his big wad of cash ended up fluttering down over his dead body in a rather poetic way.

Enfield followed up this obnoxious character with his exact opposite 'BuggerAllMoney', an Adrian Edmondson-like anarchist who was always fighting, and drinking in seedy pubs.

Loadsa launched the career of Harry Enfield. My favourite of his is Tory Boy, followed by Kevin. What became of Kathy Burke, tho ?

Tory -- definitely, yuppie -- not strictly speaking. A yuppie was (and is) a Young Upwardly Mobile Professional Person. As I remember, Loadsamonkey was a plasterer, or a painter and decorator in the housing boom of the 80s. A semi-skilled/skilled trade not a profession. I remember the character was killed off because the people he parodied started to self parody in that they acted even more obnoxiously. For example the Chelsea fans used to bait the unemployed Liverpool and Newcastle fans. Has anything changed?
