Ovaltine Chocolate Bars

Available only for a very limited time around the mid-80s, they came in a wrapper which reflected the design on the tins at the time, and they tasted a bit like a Bar Six dipped in Ovaltine. They were crunchy due to the granules of Ovaltine in the bars - which was also meant to make Ovaltine Chocoalte Bars the 'healthier' version compared to other chocolate bars.

I remembered the bar came in a tray. It was like the mold for the candy bar, the bar was made of small squares. It was our favorite.

Remember buying these regularly in a newsagents to share with my husband when we were newly married in 1983. They were delicious. Wondered where they went. Mind you, couldn't eat them now as now am a coeliac and can't have Ovaltine

they are also called "Ovomaltine" bars nowadays. They seem to have plenty of the milk chocolate ones on Amazon, but not the dark chocolate ones.

Ovaltine is a Swiss company, these chocolate bars are also made in Switzerland (where I am currently). They come in various types and flavours over here. I would say that the reason they are not selling in the UK would be due to the price being rather steep. i.e. they wouldn't be able to compete with other chocolate vendors in the UK.

I had the great fortune to discover these scrummy bars in Switzerland too, mind you that was back in the late 80's on a school trip so I stocked up and brought them home. Why can't they produce them again here like they did with the wispa bar?
