Pacman

Who could ever forget the first time they played "Pac-Man?" That yellow sphere trapped in a blue and black maze eating yellow dots and running away from four brightly colored ghosts? That introductory music and the "wacka-wacka-wacka" noise when he ate the dots? Invented by Toru Iwatani (who was inspired by a pizza missing one slice), Pac-Man went on to become one of the first video games to feature an endearing central character. Another neat fact is that the original name of the character was "Puck-Man" but this was changed once the game hit the states to prevent vandals from scratching an inappropriate word from the title. Pac-Man has seen it's share of sequels, cartoons, and merchandising. Incidentally, good ol' Pac is celebrating his 25th anniversary.

I remember playing this for so long on my Atari, that when I was eventually dragged off of it, when I blinked, the static maze shapes were burned into my retina. This lasted for the rest of the day. Pah kids today, no commitment, what with their ability to 'save the game and take a break' lol.
