Play Plax were transparent coloured perspex building 'blocks' that came in flat squares (about 2in x 2in) and tubes ( about 2in diam x 2in long).
They slotted together by placing them at 90 degrees to each other using the slots carved into each 'side'. Artistic builders could put 2 or 3 colours together and place them to the eyes to see what colour you created! They were shiny and tactile though god forbid if your sister scratched them!
