Cider was a third cheaper for some reason. It was draught Dry Blackthorn and nobody drank it. Got sick of the comments about camping, West Country, 20p for one of those screen wash sized containers of orange squash filled with Scrumpy, never again! Etc etc. Finally to the crux of this memory which you do not have on your memory lane. LONG LIFE! A hybrid of lager and bitter that was hugely popular. Whilst Skol was insipidly flat this stuff was impossibly lively and it took an eternity to fill a pint sensibly. The bar was always full of pint filled froth. This made Long Life all the sweeter because of the anticipation. What a performance but it was worth it because it was quite nice. No match for Heineken or whoever arrived later though.
