R Whites Lemonade Advert

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Who can forget the man who looked like Hank Marvin sneaking down the stairs singing "I'm a secret lemonade drinker" Then the chorus "R Whites, R Whites, R Whites lemonade" A Classic advert!

Sorry gents but i worked on all the adverts for R Whites and the Mr Benn advert did not exist. Frankie Howerd, Ronnie Corbett, Jimmy Greaves even John McEnroe but never Mr Benn. Sorry. Sean Loftus, IPC International.

It was Elvis Costello's dad singing (Ross McManus) though it was written by Bob Holness. An actor lipsynched in the ad

Re the Mr Benn advert - yes I remember watching it on the TV in our student flat in Roehampton. Eight of us saw it and we all had to check with each other that we hadn't just been hallucinating.

I remember the Mr Benn one! They did a whole series of pastiches on the original. Usually, the fridge door would close to show his wife played by someone else - Frankie Howerd and Ronnie Corbett to name but two! Anyway, in this one he comes to the end of the song and no wife! Then (as if by magic) the shopkeeper appears. Cue Ray Brooks voiceover, "And then as if by magic the shopkeeper appeared and told Mr Benn it was time to go home." Our esteemed drinker then turns into Mr Benn - and promptly goes home to find all the children on Festival road enjoying a refreshing glass of R Whites Lemonade. Rare as hen's teeth, but boy would I love to see that again!

I remember the Mr Benn R White's ad. I only saw it once in the early hours of the morning. No one else I know has ever seen it, I think they all believe I'm making it up.

Did anyone remember seeing an R Whites lemonade ad with the shopkeeper and Mr Benn in it? I seem to be the only one who can remember it happening
