The Rubiks Magic was effectively 8 squares held together with criss-crossed fishing wire, allowing it to be folded back on itself AND to one side. When uncomplete, it had 3 unlinked rings on the front, but when completed the rings were linked. My Dad broke my first one on Boxing day, by twisting it "where he thought it should go." The breaking of my replacement one is a bit of a sore point that I don't want to discuss.... The third one, however, I managed to do over and over again. By the end of my practise, I could do the Rubiks Magic in 1.98 seconds.
