The film that made indie cool, and the curse of copywriters everywhere (no capital letters in that title, people). This was a slick, stylish, low-key film, moving James Spader away from his 'preppy scum' roles (Pretty in Pink, anyone?) towards the twisted but loveable oddballs he specialises in now. Also memorable for Andie MacDowell actually acting, rather than just selling shampoo.
