Shoes that came with a free pin badge

When the new school year started, it was off to the Shoe Shop for a new pair. In the early 80s, there was a fashion for the shoe companies to give away little badges in the box with the shoes. One such, was the Springboards by Clarks. When you went back to school, you'd be proudly wearing your new shoes and your badge on your jumper. And then some lumbering great oaf would come along and stamp on your shoes and say "Crusoles" to christen them.

I'm also from the Maidenhead area and we used "crusoles" as a truce term (like fainites or pax or whatever) when we were playing it/tag etc. I have never met anyone else from any other British town who's ever heard of this word...
