When Hornby Flower Fairies were losing sales to the more modern Jem and Rainbow Brite dolls, hornby put out a range of 6 star costumes for their fairies. These were closely followed by 6 Star Fairies sold only in the USA.

It didn't take long before Tonka were making them instead of Hornby and then there were 7 Star Fairies (Sparkle, Jazz, Whisper, Nightsong, Spice, True Love and Royal Princess Sparkle) 6 extra costumes, 3 animal friends(a cat, a swan, a rabbit), Castle Wishstar, Star Coach and Lavender the unicorn, a run-way type dressing room and even an animated film, featuring the voice of Drew Barrymore!

    I still have my fairies. I have the ones my sister had too. We got in an argument at the toy store over who would get Sparkle and who would get Jazz. My parents must have felt they were inexpensive beacause we were allowed the jewlery box and 3 fairies each. Anyway My sister won the fight and I was so mad I left Jazz sitting on the shelf. By the time I had earned enough allowance to buy her myself they were gone. I always felt bad that I left her behind. They were great fun!!

    I have been trying to think of this movie for years- i am so relieved to finally have figured out what I was thinking of! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    I had only one star fairy- Sparkle- as a little girl. I was an avid equestrian at a young age and was an obsessed collector of breyer model horses. The star fairies were very posable and Sparkle made an excellent rider for my breyers- she was the perfect size and could be bent to sit and ride perfectly. I always wanted more star fairy dolls but I remember they weren't out for very long so I only had her. An excellent childhood toy memory. I will always remember my Sparkle Doll!!!
