Toys TOYS

Star Wars Action Figures

Star Wars action figures are still the coolest toys ever to be released and they marked the first time that marketing for a film became more profitable than the movie itself.

For kids used to nothing more exciting than Lego, the thrill of these uncannily accurate, if a little too buff in the case of Mark Hamill, toys was one of the abiding memories of my childhood. The Millennium Falcon was awesome in its detail, and to this day I remain jealous of my friends who had the whole range (and can probably fund their retirement selling them now).

Somewhere, long buried in the carpets of our parents, are a million little Boba Fett guns and Darth Vader lightsabers.

I am considering selling my husband's millenium falcon to a friend with two little boys. My three boys played with it forever and it is not in good shape. It is pricless to me because of the sentimental value but if my friend and his friend really want it I can't say no. Am I wrong to get rid of it?

Still have a load of Star Wars toys that i collected years ago. There were about a dozen figures that were very rare - Luke Stormtrooper, Amanaman, Barada, Blue Snaggletooth, Han Solo figure in Carbonite etc. Amazingly i did manage to collect the lot with exception of the illusive Blue Snaggletooth. A few years ago when the collection was spiralling out of control i sold numerous things but kept a couple of near complete sets of figures and some choice ships in boxes. The things i did sell were like an unopened ESB X-wing. That raised about £60. Once i sold an At-At to some bloke in Spain for £100! That must have been at the height of the value. I have seen complete sets of figures going for in excess of £800 on Ebay but this seems to have wained a bit now

This is a fairly new fascination of mine -- blogging a daily photo of Star Wars Action Figures in various states of action, grimacing, contemplation, and carousing. I find that without too much effort a photo that combines good composition, lighting, an unusual camera angle (not to mention the occasional usurping of a household appliance) can breathe an astonishing amount of life into these already cool toys. Enjoy. http://ratherchildish.wordpress.com

There's an excellent chance that those reading this post will enjoy these photos of "Star Wars Action Figures Doing What They Do Best" -- http://ratherchildish.wordpress.com/ It's my somewhat obsessive journal celebrating the unfading 'cool' inherent in these little beauties. Enjoy!

My Seven year old is now the proud owner of my AT-AT; pity I got rid of the rest, I had to buy him a new Millennium Falcon.
