T J Hooker

T J Hooker was an American cop show in the same vein as Miami Vice. William Shatner stars as Sgt. T.J. Hooker, a veteran cop who rejected a detective's badge to return to the streets and train young recruits in this hour-long contemporary police drama series produced by Spelling/Goldberg Productions in association with Columbia Pictures Television.

Also starring in the series are Adrian Zmed as Vince Romano, a young Vietnam veteran who finds a new home on the force as Hooker's partner and Richard Herd as Captain Dennis Sheridan a politically-minded officer with an eye to the chief's job. Appearing in the series in a recurring role is Lee Bryant as Hooker's ex-wife Fran who still holds a great deal of affection for her ex-husband.

Hooker teaches the recruits at the Police Academy while working out of the nearby precinct. A tough-minded sergeant, he recently returned to street duty by his own choice after his involvement in the fatal shooting of his partner.

In the academy classrooms and on the fields, Hooker exposes the young recruits to the realities of police work and the pressures it brings on them and their families. On the streets Hooker believes in strong law enforcement and he is often in conflict with Captain Sheridan who likes to present the police department with a lighter image. The sergeant and his partner Romano are exposed to danger every day while battling all kinds of crime.
