The Adventures of Black Beauty

This adaption of the 1877 novel by Anna Sewell ran for 52 episodes in the 1970s and featured a Doctor and his children who got involved in all sorts of adventures. Somehow, their horse Black Beauty always got involved and frequently helped them out of tricky situations.

Black Beauty was a family favourite and was aired on Sunday afternoons at teatime.

I only have to hear the first bit of the theme tune and my heart skips a beat, it is my all time favourite piece of music, because it started my life long love of horses, I'm 46 now, but when I'm watching those DVD's I could be back in 1972 and eight years old again, by the way that old horse will never die, he lives on in our memories

I was born when the tv series was in its second year 1973.. but I did manage to catch the re runs.. and still like it tuday. louise uk

Black Beauty had the best theme music of all 70's tv! The end was the best! It would show Black Beauty galloping home through sunny meadows, twinkling steams and golden fields of corn, it's magnificent glossy coat shining!! It used to make me blubb!! Hahaha! Weren't the 70's fab!
