The Sweater Shop

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Does anyone remember the Sweater Shops in the late 80s / early 90s that were all over the country and used to sell various t-shirts and jumpers with the Sweater Shop written on them? Why did we all wear these?!

We really miss the Sweater Shop. My husband has a gorgeous one full of bright colours which is greatly admired by everyone. Lifts the spirits on these dull dark and rainy days. However we are anoraks but still it could be a new fashion. By the way we found the sweater in a charity shop and now frequent them all in the hope that we find another and one for me too. Don't many clothes show they're labels today on garments so whats new??Be cool again wear a sweater shop label if you can find one.

BDZ - 'for those who might be interested' as the orignal owner was called Brian De Zille (or Godzilla as his staff called him) - think this might be a plug for your own company! I was there at the time of the Management Buy in when the Godzilla's moved to Jersey. The new guys so got ripped off - bought a big white elephant and the Godzilla's were laughing all the way to the bank. I only had a few dealings with Brian De Zille and he was so arrogant it was beyond belief! Hope it crashes and burns as I will NOT be seen dead in that old tatt!

I worked there for quite a few years and he wasn't a nice fella full stop backed up up by an equally unpleasant management as well.one of the best bunch of lads I've worked with though and have quite a few funny moments to look back on especially from the nightshift

My Nan started this company in her back garden shed, my mum was the first ever employee. They didn't go bust, the financier just sold up and went to enjoy his life in Jersey. The garments were such good quality, they lasted forever! that's probably why it was so popular, I still see people wearing them to this day! They are re-launching I think, but my Nan died a few years back so won't be the same without her :(
