WATT on earth

This was a kids show in the late 80's/early 90's about an alien who comes to earth.

When he gets to Earth he meets a boy here and becomes friends but there are other aliens out to catch him.

The alien (WATT) has the power to morph himself into random objects to hide himself. The problem was that the objects he turned himself into were never perfect, and always had a fault - like a cup with two handles or a jumper with 3 sleeves.

I still remember when Watt used to change back he called it 'De-trans-animate-objectify' one of the biggest words I knew at the time so I used to say it all the time!

JEM-ED-DAH! Another classic from the glory days of Children's BBC. I still have the novelisation by the writers of the series, Pip and Jane Baker, who also wrote some delightful scripts for Doctor Who. The boy was called Sean Ruddock and his parents ran the local newspaper. There was also his irritating and interfering teenage sister, Zoe. Watt was the heir to an alien throne and Jemedah was the shape-changing henchman sent to rub him out. (Watt's uncle was Regent Protector and wanted to stay in charge.) Incredibly, the Bakers had Geoffrey Hughes in mind for Watt. Can't imagine that. (He'd appeared in one of their Doctor Who episodes and the novelisation is dedicated to him.) Even more incredibly, Geoffrey Hughes was my second cousin! Sadly he's no longer with us.
