He was known for calling his troup 'A load of poofs!'

    He did the voice for a children's show, he was a silver weapon ball who led other war balls out of a space ship to attack the baddys who was also on a space ship led by a female who had a centipede on her armor Down her back and had a red eye halve robot I think. All puppets.... WHAT WAS IT CALLED PLEASE HELP late 70 s

    Windsor Davieswas my mathematics teacher at Mountside Boys School in Leek Staffs from 1958-1960 I went to Leek from Manchester and caused some confusion as there was another boy with the same name as me.I wonder if he recalls the name Alan Johnson (Swoppit) as he was known. I remember him in a school Panto' when he was pulling a schoolboy across the stage with a thick rope.He disappeared of stage leaving the rope across the stage and then re-appeared dressed as the schoolboy tethered to the other end of the rope. Grand old days,good to remember. john.price

    He also played the training seargent in the film of Spike Milligan's Adolf Hitler- My Part In His Downfall', as well as starring as one of a pair of rival antique dealers in the '80s sitcom 'Never The Twain'. I also remember him being in a TV ad for Heinz Curried Beans!

    i remember him from half hot mum he made a great double act and had a welsh accent.he sang whispering grass with don estelle.i also recollect an incident with an elephant?? he used to say you loverly boy meet the gang cause the boys are here the boys to entertain you --------were going to meet you with a hey hey hey -------something like that then there would be a shot of the indian man snakecharmer
