I had a friend as a kid who had a bike called a Zipper. I don't know the manufacturer but it was just like a Chopper and probably just as rare and collectable now. It was bright yellow and cool as anything. I have just bought a Chopper at an auto jumble in pretty good order. It is a mk. 2 1972. My wife and I had them as kids and reminisced about them so when we found this one we had to buy it and ride it!

    OMG, been trying to look the Dawes Zipper up for ages, thought I was the only one who had one, mine was Red / Black, had the handlebar tassels, think it had 3 gears as well. Shame can’t find any photos though.

    My Dad got me a Dawes Zipper in about 1973/4 It must have been cheaper than a Chopper I usually got the copy instead of the real thing. But I loved my lime green Zipper I customised it with indicators and tassels. A furture Harley rider in the making. Love to see a photo of one.

    I had a zipper in the early 70's...bright yellow as well! Been trawling the internet for a picture....can't find one.....has anyone else got a piccy?

    ...I got it on my 6th birthday in 1972, it had stabilisers and handlebar tassles - but not for long! Thanks to it being so much lighter than my friend's Choppers I could always beat them in a race - although with no gears my legs would be flying! My Dad had a Dawes racer which is why he chose it instead of a Chopper.

    i had a zipper bike it was the cool bike everybody wanted if you ever come to wales go to erdigg hall in wrexham and there is a bike display there with grifters and choppers and pride of place a zipper in the middle

    zipper bike: i had one as a lad dad wouldn't buy me a chopper don't all my mates had choppers don't know manufacturer looking througth old photos as i'm sure i have a picture of it and want to see if i can see who the manufacturer was.would like to find one slim chance
