Telex Machines In my YTS days between 1983 and 1984, I was introduced to the telex machine at a couple of placement companies. You typed in an initial message which generated a long piece of tape with punched holes in it. This tape could then be 'rerun' in a reader to test the message for mistakes. If the message was grammatically correct, you could then dial up a recipient telex machine at another company and 'rerun' the tape thereby sending the message. A bit long winded by today's office standards, but effective. The small punched tape pieces were a nuisance so you had to keep tidying up the telex machine.
