I absolutely LOVE the toys I grew up playing with: Lego, Barbie, Jem, Wish World Kids, Oh Penny, Polly Pocket - the list just goes on! I'm quite sentimental and nostalgic about my past, and the memories that I have of my favourite dolls and playsets. Do I remember? You bet I do!
Sweet Secrets It was 1985 and my sister and I had 2 Sweet Secrets between us: a panda with a yellow gem and a girl with a purple or blue gem. I remember, I forced the gem out of my panda and was so disappointed to find that it wasn't a real jewel after all: just a piece of plastic with a shiny piece of coloured foil behind it to give it its "sparkle!" I treated a lot of my toys badly when I was a kid, hence my nostalgia-driven collecting now!!!
Charles and Eddie You have to be an Aussie chick to know this, but Southern Sons had more and LONGER hair than Eddie! "Would I Lie to You" is a great little song, very upbeat and playful.
Bryan Adams My sister had a real thing for this guy after watching Kevin Costner's "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and especially after watching the music video for "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)." I have to admit, he wasn't all that bad on the album, "Waking up the Neighbors," though there were some songs (ie "Vanishing") during which you'd want to give the guy a throat lozenge or something: his voice was SO raspy and grating, like he was going to lose it before the end of the song!
Boyz II Men 'End of the Road' was the worst break-up song of my youth! 'Coolyhighharmony' was a good album, even though I really only got it for that one song! It took me some time (and a lot of perseverance!) to appreciate that tape ... but only because by then, I'd listened to everything in my small collection about a 100 times over.
Bell Biv Devoe My favourite BBD song is "Gangsta Boogie." I still listen to this occasionally on my iPod Shuffle! I remember, the music video for this song was pretty cool!
Belinda Carlisle I thought Belinda Carlisle was the most beautiful redhead I'd ever seen on a tape cassette cover (and I only had Tiffany to compare her to!)! 'Runaway Horses' is a beautiful, uplifting album that featured Bryan Adams on one song ('We Want the Same Thing') and Belinda's own song-writing on another ('Shades of Michaelangelo'). I don't have a very good voice, but for some reason I could sing along to Belinda, Tiffany, Bangles, Paula Adbul and Kylie Minogue - ie singers with very "thin" voices layered over with that 80s electronic sheen!
Bananarama I listen to WOW! and instantly, I'm 12 again, sitting in my old bedroom with my old pink double-deck tape recorder / player!
