Horlicks Tablets I was 5 years old in September 1939, and associate Horlicks tablets with air raid shelters and siren alerts. We seemed to spend quite a lot of time in air raid shelters in the first years of the war, and I have a feeling we were routinely given Horlicks tablets to make the experience more bearable. Perhaps they were issued by the school? which was a primary school near Rochdale, Lancashire.
