70s TV Show

A 70's TV show (think it may have been Sunday afternoons). Was possibly set in medieval times (Robin Hood-ish I seem to remember) and the main character used to put on a bird/hawk mask (red / orange feathers with a white beak) before taking on the bad guys (Normans / Saxons...can't remember which). The end credits used to go up the screen and behind them was a picture of the 'bird mask' with flames behind that. I'm hoping someone else does remember this as I've been searching the Internet for years trying to find some sort of reference to the programme. My sadly ageing memory also seems to think it may have been on at the same time period as the Muppet Show but who knows... Please help me!
