Lady LovelyLocks

We all wanted to be Lady Lovely Locks, the gorgeous little blonde girl who lived in the forest and was friends with the animals! The Lady LovelyLocks doll came with little creatures you could put in your hair and they had long colourful tails! Fab!

Lady LovelyLocks was produced by Mattel in the mid 1980s, and following the success of the brand the doll was characterised in the 1987 television series by DiC in which there were twenty different episodes.

Lady LovelyLocks measured about 8.5-inches toll and every one came with three or four Pixietails (which looked a little bit like My Little Pony) which you could add to the doll's hair or your own. The four original Lady LovelyLocks dolls comprised of Lady LovelyLocks, Maiden CurlyBrown, Maiden FairHair, Prince StrongHear and Duchess RavenWaves. Later on there were also Enchanted Island Dolls including Lady LovelyLocks who came with three fish Pixietails, Maiden CurlyBrown, Maiden FairHair, Maiden GoldenWaves and Maiden MistyCurls. The Sparkle Pretty Dolls were the last in the Lady LovelyLocks line.

My memories about this doll and play line are very fuzzy and blurry, but I swear, I remember playing with a pixie tail ... so I can only hazard a guess that I MUST have had a Lady Lovely Locks doll, too, in my collection, at some point in my never-ending childhood and seemingly insatiable appetite for dolls, dolls and more dolls.

I wanted one of these so bad when I was a kid, but never got one. :( Now that I am an adult I was able to buy Lady Lovelylocks, Prince Strongheart, Silkymane, and a bunch of pixietails on EBay. I love them, and will most certainly give them to my children. I am still trying to find Duchess Ravenwaves in good condition.

Duchess RavenWaves was my FAVOURITE. She wore a gorgeous purple satin gown with floating panels of blue, pink, and violet. When I was brushing her hair one day, the plastic bobble that made her head swivel popped into two pieces. I was devastated, until I realised that all the LLL dollies had identical, interchangeable body. Quickly I decapitated Lady Lovely Locks herself and put the Duchess's raven head on her body. I never missed Lady Lovely Locks, but I still have the Duchess set aside for my own daughters. Hopefully if the same thing happens again, there'll be a spare Lady Lovely Locks available somewhere for quickie head-transplants.

i used to love that show. i used to pretend i was her when i was in my backyard i used to put the colourful hair things in and pretend that the evil lady was trying to cut my hair off. one time i got my friend to cut some of my hair off when playing, my mum got angry and banned me from watching the show for 2weeks!! i almost cried! ohh those were the days!
