Warlord

The Warlord comics first came out in 1975 and contained a mix of sword and sorcery tales. I remember two characters from the Warlord comics more clearly than the rest - D-Day Dawson and Peter Flint. There was a huge poster given away in one edition which had D-Day Dawson charging out of it at you bayonet fixed with all the British Army Divisional badges around the frame. It looked great on my bedroom wall when I was 10. A few years ago, I was at the Nothe Fort Museum in Weymouth and they had the same poster on the wall... imagine my excitement as I was taken back to a vivid childhood memory (and imagine the look I got from my 'other-half')

I used to have Warlord in 1977-78. A friend of mine was a committed fan of this publication. There was also a character called Killer Kane. It was about a Spitfire pilot and his main adversary a Messerschmitt pilot. Killer Kane finally shoots him down. The story was then replaced by Spitfire Island. I did not have much interest in that storyline. There was also a free poster with one issue showing German equipment, grenades etc. I did join the Warlord club. Had all the codebooks etc. until about 25 years ago. The winged W badge my still be around somewhere at my mother's house.

Warlord did include Union Jack Jackson. D Day Dawson was actually from Battle not Warlord and the comic illustrated is the not the comic referred to in the post. That is a Sci Fi fantasy comic of the same name. Warlord came in 1974 not 75 and ran for 12 years ☺

Union Jack Jackson WAS in the Warlord. I remember getting the comic from the mid 70's up until I left home to join up in 1980. http://britishcomics.wikia.com/wiki/Warlord?file=Img760.jpg
