Thumbelina Doll

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Thumbelina was a small soft bodied newborn doll with vinyl head, arms and legs. She had a string in her back and when you pulled it she wriggled on her back and moved her head.

I have a Toddler Thumbelina from 1968 which still works when you pull her string! Her legs and head move and she wears a pink dress. I also had Wake up Thumbelina. This doll was bigger and had a plastic body and fabric legs. When you pressed a button on her back she made this terrible grinding noise and turned over!! It was quite disturbing! I found her in my attic years later, and her legs had come off. I put her in my garden as a kind of alternative garden ornament. The kids walking past my garden all point and laugh!!

I still have mine that was bought for me in the early 60's with the wooden dial at the back. Not in great condition but I would not part with her.

I love the little Thumbelina and am trying to track down a 'reborn' brought out by Danbury mint in the US a couple of yrears ago. I bought one online and had her delivered to a friend's house in Mississippi. Unfortunately she was lost in the hurricane disaster. does anyone know where I can still get one? I was bought this doll twice as a child; my first was stolen at school and my second broken by horrible little brothers! I still feel cheated . . . .
