They were my first puppy-crush media icons and not just because of their well tailored Chino's, yet their opulent song titles that oozed real-day love only a 15 year old could really appreciate such gushing sloppy sentiment. In 1988 they gave TTPs a much needed injection of female excitement of 'boy bands' that had long faded into the glittering glam-pop years of the mid to late 70's. Whilst women in their 20's reminisced of the new romantics and sex appeal of Tony Hadley; girls of 13-16 were tying the proverbial knot with Latin British pre-millenia pop newcombers Brother Beyond in 88/89 when they were at the height of their pop-pop-ularity. I had an enormous crush on Nathan Moore for reasons I still do not understand, just that it occurred to me at 15 in 1988 that he must have been talking me to about how he really felt about me, even if he was wildly fantasizing about a former silver-screen actress called Sophia Loren. It was not my fault that I fell into the the vacant arms of such a soppy singing sensation even though it was very kind of short lived.
