Chillo

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Chillo was a powder in a sachet that was meant to metamorphosise into ice cream. You had to pour it into a bowl and add milk, then pop it in the fridge for a while. I didn't like the taste, and the consistency of the ice cream was like flavoured snow. Not that I've tried flavoured snow!

Delighted to see this thread -like others, I thought I was the only person to remember Chillo. I remember the tv advert “The dessert you cook in the Fridge”. I remember my mother making this and freezing in the fridge in our Prefab, and the disappointment of the finished product. Like others we had to resort to taking a bowl out to the ice cream man on a Sunday afternoon.

the best Chillo we ever had was mixed by my Dad in the good mixer on too high a speed, it went up the wall. He scraped it off and it tasted all the better for it. Strawberry was our favourite flavour

How thrilled I was to find your thread about 'Chillo' because I thought we were the only family in the UK ever to have bought it! My mother fed it to us religiously - always the vanilla version (maybe there WAS only the vanilla version - can anybody remember any other flavours??) Bring it back, I say. Why buy Carte d'or when you can have Chillo ?
